Grant Ranch Neighbors:
In December and January there were burglaries in the Grant Ranch Community that many of you are already aware of. Cindy and I met with Dean Christopherson of the Denver Police Department to discuss Homeowners concerns and obtain the actual facts on the burglaries.
Below is the information from the Denver Police Department:

Above is the link to the Crime Maps. It is pretty easy to use, just plug in an intersection, or actual address, and I recommend you go out at least 1,000ft on the range. This will show actual reports for the Date parameters you set.
As for the recent burglaries:
The Denver Police responded to (3) reported Burglaries in the Grant Ranch subdivision. On 12/06/11, a home was broken into on 5400 blk. Prentice Circle, on 01/05/12, a home was broken into on 6700 blk. W. Crestline Ave, and on 01/16/12, a home was broken into on the 6500 blk. W. Alamo Drive. The cases are assigned to Detectives for followup. These appear to be Daytime Break-ins, and residents are advised to be vigilant for suspicious activity. These incidents occurred on separate dates, up to a month apart, and at this time do not share an apparent link other than similar way of forcing open a front door.
The Denver Police Department has increased its patrols in the area in an effort to curb suspicious activity.
Next, as your neighbor, I would like to add a few thoughts on how to best prevent crimes such as burglaries in Grant Ranch. If you don't know your neighbors, and they don't know you, you're already in a vulnerable situation. If you see a neighbor's garage door up late at night across the street do you have their phone number to call them? Would you? If someone comes to your door uninvited your guard should be up. When they leave do you watch where they go? Are they alone? If you see someone you don't know at a neighbor's home be a good neighbor and make your presence known by doing something as simple as opening your door so they know someone is watching. Most everyone now has a cell phone with a camera so if you see something or someone that your intuition tells you is not right take a photo. You can always discard it later.
If a large enough number of Homeowners shows an interest in a crime prevention meeting with our three law enforcement agencies of Denver, Lakewood and Jefferson County your HOA will arrange a meeting at the Village Center.
